Sailor’s delight – UFO

I have made a block of the Craftsy Course „Quick Strip Paper Piecing“ with Peggy Martin. It’s a birthday gift for my mother in law. It should be a placemat or something like this. Currently size: 17x17inch

Now the block is waiting to quilt. I’m insecure, which design is the best. Then I remembered Leahs Quilt Along – Auditioning Designs.

I transformed the photo into a pencil drawing with Picasa and printed it out.

Und dann also wild drauf los malen! Rausgekommen ist das:

Then paint! That’s the result:

I would quilt the star in the middle with feathers. The white piece of the star maybe squared like on the left upper site, maybe round like on the right lower site.

I wiggle the green part, that’s the design I am very comfortable with. And for the brown corner I test Paisley. The border is tricky. I have painted Pipe Maze, but I’m not sure if it fits. But on the other hand, I quilt with beige thread on beige fabric, it is not very noticeable

This is the plan for my UFO 🙂
(and sorry for my very bad english!)
