UFO-Sonntag: Dirndl-Quilt

Hallo!

I have to admit, since the last post is not much happening on my Dirndl-Quilt. Thanks to all who have given me tips on thread color selection! I’ll probably take purple, since I have no matching red and unfortunately can’t buy so quickly. Black would also be nice, but I decided for an all-over design and then black does not fit well.

As a quilt design I will quilt feathers. I have also been practicing diligently on paper. The kids think it’s great they have painted the exercises already 🙂

Because it’s just soooo boring (haha), I have started a project in our kindergarten class. Each child makes a block with fabric paints, fabrics and stamps. I quilt the blocks and put the blocks together with quilt-as-you-go method. Here you can see some of the art:

As surprise I will quilt the names of the artists on an extra block and place it under the block of the artist. I’m already looking forward to the total result!

And then I have done something sooooo important: Cookies! Now, Christmas can come!

  1. Wonderful quilt project. I bet the kids love it.

  2. Oh, I love the kindergarten project! It is lovely!

  3. Your kindergarten project is going to be amazing! Your cookies look delicious too.

    1. And they taste good! I must have been hiding, because almost half is eaten.

  4. Your feather doodles are wonderful, and I can't wait to see this quilted in purple on the black background. I am glad you decided against black thread; it would have been very hard to see where you are going!

    1. Yes, I think so. The purple will be easier to see, but not so much that you can see all the mistakes 🙂

  5. I love your quilting! It has dual purposes, you are entertaining the children too, and teaching them well! I am doing a similar project at work as your kindergarten quilt. I am having children paint eighteen inch squares and when I have enough I will sew them together to make a quilt curtain to hang at the back of my art department. Hopefully it will be done by spring!

    1. It's really a great work. It's so much fun to paint with the kids. And I have a deadline – christmas – so it will be no UFO!

  6. Hi Ratama looks like you've been having lots of fun and those feather drawings are fab can't wait to see the quilting x

    1. Yes, I think I start tomorrow with quilting. I'm a little bit nervous about it.
